about

Airing in 2012 on CBC Moncton. Profile of ECMA nominated indigenous musician Phyllis Grant of the Pabineau Reserve near Bathurst. Mo3 refers to her finding herself, at 26, a single “mother of three” who, despite the strife in her life, turned to the arts and her artistic passions and found it to be one of the greatest gifts to her children. She’s an award-nominated rap artist and works in other disciplines. In this piece, she talks about her single “Uprising”, a nod to native politics and how the system has pitted natives against each other.
